In brief — Marrakech Weekend Itinerary
The complete Marrakech weekend itinerary for British, French, Irish and European visitors landing Friday evening and flying home Sunday afternoon. Written by Eric — French host at Riad Vendome since 2011 — this is the exact 2-day plan we send to weekend guests, including hen parties, couples on city break, friend groups and 30/40th birthday weekends. Direct flights from London 3h00, Manchester 3h30, Birmingham 3h15, Dublin 3h45.
A Marrakech weekend works if you don't try to see everything. Pick ONE main experience (spa OR cooking class OR Agafay desert) and combine it with the medina essentials. This itinerary covers the medina + spa (the most popular weekend formula). For cooking weekend or desert weekend variations, see the 3-day itinerary instead. Total cost from €270/person at Riad Vendome (mid-range, all-included excluding flights).
💡 Real example: Sarah and James from Manchester, October 2025 weekend. Friday 19:00 land, Sunday 16:00 fly home. Total cost €540 the couple = riad 1 night €120 + couples spa €66 + dinner €45 + Saturday lunch €25 + airport transfers €30 + souk shopping €200 + breakfast included. They had time for medina, Bahia Palace, hammam, dinner Jemaa El-Fna and a slow Sunday morning. They came back 5 months later for a full 4-day stay.

Afternoon · 16:00-18:00
Land at Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). Riad Vendome offers private transfer with meet & greet at arrivals (€15 for the car, max 4 guests). The driver brings you to the closest accessible point of the medina, then a riad porter walks you the final 100m through the cobblestoned alleys with your luggage — this is part of the Dar El Bacha medina experience. Check-in at the riad with a welcome mint tea on the rooftop, view of the Koutoubia minaret and the Atlas Mountains. Brief from the staff with a free walking map of the medina, marked with the safe shortcuts to Jemaa El-Fna.
Evening · 18:30-20:30
7 minutes walk through Derb El Halfaoui and the small souks of Dar El Bacha. Pass by the Mouassine Mosque, the Mouassine Fountain (one of the most beautiful in Marrakech), then arrive at Jemaa El-Fna square. The square comes alive at sunset with snake charmers, monkey trainers, storytellers, henna artists and orange juice stalls (€0.50/glass). Climb to one of the rooftop cafes — Cafe de France or Cafe Glacier — for the iconic sunset view over the square (€€3-5 for a tea or coffee).
Dinner · 21:00-23:00
Best option: dinner at the riad rooftop prepared by Chef Naima (rated 5.0/5 on Google. Set menu €25/person: starter (zaalouk or harira soup), main course (chicken tagine with lemon and olives, or lamb couscous, or vegetable tagine), Moroccan pastries with mint tea. Pre-order before 18:00. Alternative: walk back to Jemaa El-Fna for the food stalls (€€8-15/person, authentic but touristy) or one of the upscale medina restaurants like Nomad or Le Jardin (€€35-60/person, fusion food, book ahead).
Morning · 08:00-10:00
Breakfast included with your stay: fresh-squeezed orange juice, mint tea, Moroccan pastries (msemen flatbread, beghrir pancakes with honey), eggs to order, fresh seasonal fruit, homemade jams. Served on the rooftop with view of the medina rooftops, the Atlas Mountains in the distance, and the muezzin call from the nearby mosque at 09:30. Allow 1h to fully enjoy. Pro tip: ask Naima for the special pancake with amlou (almond and argan butter) — not on the standard menu but available on request.
Late morning · 10:30-12:30
Walk 12 minutes from Riad Vendome to Bahia Palace (€4 entry, allow 1h15) — the most beautiful courtyard in Marrakech, built in the 19th century by Grand Vizier Si Moussa. Photogenic zellige tiles, painted cedar ceilings, fountain courtyards. Combine with Saadian Tombs next door (€5, 30 min) — 16th-century royal tombs hidden until 1917. Pro tip: arrive at 10:30 to avoid the cruise tour groups that flood the place at 11:30. Both sites are wheelchair-accessible at ground level only.
Lunch · 13:00-14:30
Easy lunch options near Bahia Palace: Cafe Clock (€€8-15, camel burger, fresh salads, vegetarian options, rooftop terrace), Naranj (€€12-20, Lebanese-Moroccan fusion), or Henna Cafe (€€6-10, NGO supporting local women, simple vegetarian). For something quick, the orange juice stalls in Jemaa El-Fna (€0.50) plus a fresh almond pastry (€1) is enough before the spa.
Afternoon · 15:00-17:30
Walk back to Riad Vendome for the highlight of the weekend: traditional Moroccan hammam + 1-hour massage in the private spa. Hammam (30 min): black soap exfoliation with kessa glove, ghassoul clay mask, rinse with rose water. Followed by 1-hour argan oil massage in the wellness room or on the rooftop pergola (sunset view if you book the 16:30 slot). Couples option: duo massage on the rooftop, 2 therapists working in parallel, €66 for 2 guests. After the spa, relax 30 min in the rooftop jacuzzi at 36C (free for guests, €12 for non-guests).
Sunset · 18:00-19:00
Last sunset at the riad before departure. Mint tea and Moroccan pastries on the rooftop, picked up at the souk on the way back from a final walk. Souvenir shopping last chance: the souk closest to the riad (Souk El Khemis) sells argan oil (real one €€8-12 the bottle, fake €2), saffron (real one €15/g, fake €2), Berber rugs (€€60-300), leather babouches (€€12-25). The riad staff can come with you to negotiate fair prices.
Departure · 19:30
Private transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport for evening flights to UK, France, Spain, Ireland (€15 for the car). Allow 1h before flight time at the airport — international departures security can be slow. Pro tip: arrive 10 min early at the riad reception to let the staff arrange your transfer car (no risk of taxi shortage during peak time).
Cooking weekend variation: replace Saturday afternoon spa with a 4-hour cooking class with Chef Naima (souk visit + cooking + lunch, €65/person). Best for foodies and groups of friends. Agafay desert weekend variation: replace Saturday afternoon with a half-day Agafay desert excursion (camel ride + Berber lunch + sunset, €55/person, 14:00-19:00). Best for couples wanting an authentic Moroccan landscape. Hen party weekend variation: book full riad privatisation (€275/girl for 10 girls all-included) for spa party, rooftop dinner with belly dancer, mint tea ceremony.
Yes, 2 days in Marrakech is enough to cover medina highlights (Jemaa El-Fna, souks, Bahia Palace) and ONE major experience: spa OR cooking class OR Agafay desert. For couples on quick break or hen party weekends, Friday evening to Sunday afternoon is the most popular formula in 2026.
Friday arrival with welcome mint tea, Saturday Bahia Palace + souks morning, Saturday afternoon couples spa with rooftop massage (€66 for 2), Saturday evening Jemaa El-Fna sunset + traditional dinner. Sunday slow breakfast and late check-out. From €540 the couple at Riad Vendome (1 night, breakfast, couples spa).
