How a direct booking works, step by step

1. You write on WhatsApp at +212 600 608 608 or by email: your dates, the number of guests, your requests (spa, cooking class, transfer, a special occasion).
2. You receive a written quote within 24 hours: rate, what is included, payment and cancellation terms. You ask all your questions before deciding.
3. You confirm with a 30% deposit, by bank transfer or secure payment link, and your written confirmation follows.
4. You pay the balance on site, on arrival. For a room, cancellation is free up to 14 days before arrival, with the deposit refunded in full; a group booking or an exclusive hire can no longer be cancelled once confirmed.

What a booking form cannot carry

A booking form carries four pieces of information very well: dates, a number of guests, a room type and a price. Everything else goes into one free-text box, often called special requests, read at arrival. The difference when you book direct is not that your request would be ignored elsewhere: it is that here, someone can ask you the next question. Is it a preference, an intolerance or a medical need? Would you like the anniversary marked, or left quietly alone? A box cannot ask. A person can.

Being known before you arrive

It is the part hardest to show, because it does not appear on a listing. When you arrive, we already know why you are coming, with whom, and what matters to you. A birthday, a first trip to Morocco, a mother who finds stairs difficult and would rather have a ground-floor room: none of it needs repeating at a counter.

Who you talk to when something changes

When you book direct, “one contact” means something precise: the person who wrote your quote is the one who answers when your flight is delayed, when you want to add a hammam session, or when a date has to move. There is no handover between a booking department and a reception, because there is no booking department: there is Éric.

What booking direct asks of you in return

It would be dishonest to present it as costing nothing. It asks you to write a message rather than click, and to wait for a human reply rather than an automatic confirmation: usually quick, within 24 hours at most. It also asks you to pay a deposit rather than leave a card number as a guarantee.

Who direct booking suits least

Someone who wants an automatic, on-screen confirmation in the middle of the night without exchanging a word with anyone. If that is your need, an instant booking system will serve you better, and that is fine. If your stay has something particular about it, an important date, a group, a late arrival, a diet, the conversation is the shortest way to have it all settled. Book direct with the owner.

How to tell if a riad in Marrakech is legit before you book

Reviews tell you how a stay went; four checks tell you whether the booking itself is safe. Look for a precise address on Google Maps, with photos that match the website. Read recent public reviews rather than a single score: Riad Vendôme has 617 on Google, rated 4.2/5, and 4.2/5 on TripAdvisor. Ask for a written, dated confirmation before paying anything. Pay a partial deposit, never the full amount, and never by Western Union or in cash before arrival.
