Learn to cook a real Moroccan tagine au heart of the Marrakech medina. At Riad Vendôme, our Our chef welcomes you for a complete culinary workshop : shopping at the local market, preparing Moroccan starters and traditional tagines, then tasting your dishes on the toit-terrasse with views on the Atlas Mountains. Riad Vendôme opens the doors of its traditional kitchen to you for a complete immersion in Moroccan gastronomy. Our chef, cook at the riad for over 15 years, passes on her expertise with patience and good humour. The workshop takes place in the riad's kitchen, a space bright donnant on the central patio, where each participant met the main to the paste.
The programme of your workshop :
Courses in the souk (45 min) — Accompanied by our chef, you explore the local market 200 metres from the riad. You learn to choose spices (cumin, turmeric, ras el hanout, saffron), seasonal vegetables and meats. It's a moment privileged for discover the couleurs and the parfums of the souk.
Preparation of the dishes (2h) — Back at the riad, you prepare your menu from scratch: two Moroccan starters (cooked salad, zaalouk or briouates), then a main course of your choice from our signature recipes.
Tasting — You taste your creations on the riad rooftop terrace, accompanied by mint tea and Moroccan pastries, with views panoramic over the medina rooftops and the Atlas Mountains.

Cooking class for couples or families: the workshop is available from 2 guests. It's an ideal activity for couples on a romantic weekend or families with children (from 8 years). Children love getting hands-on rolling the semolina for couscous or shaping the briouates. A convivial experience that makes a change from sightseeing.
Cooking class for groups: we welcome up to 20 people for a group workshop. It's the perfect team building activity for corporate seminars, hen parties or birthdays. Each participant leaves with the written recipe and spices to recreate the dish at home. See our group packages.

An authentic setting in the medina. Unlike cooking workshops in the tourist riads near Jemaa El-Fna, Riad Vendôme is located in the residential neighbourhood of Dar El Bacha, the most prestigious district of the medina. The riad's kitchen is a real workspace, not a tourist set.
Our chef, a real cook. Our cook was not trained in a hotel school — she is a Moroccan cook who carries on recipes passed from mother to daughter. Her chicken and preserved lemon tagine has been praised by hundreds of travellers. She speaks French and adapts to all levels.

Schedule: workshops start at 10am (lunch) or 4pm (dinner). Total duration: 3h to 3h30 including market shopping.

A cooking class complete at Riad Vendôme dure approximately 3:00 to 3:30 : 45 minutes shopping at the local market, 2 hours of preparation in the kitchen, then tasting on the rooftop terrace. The formula without market shopping lasts approximately 2:30.
