The Riad Vendôme is a family riad in Marrakech: suites for 3, 4 or 5 guests, safe pool in the patio, children's menu, quiet patio. 12 rooms + 5 in our second riad (17 total, 35, 40, 45 guests). Exclusive hire possible for large families. Neighbourhood Dar El Bacha, 7 min from Jemaa El-Fna. From €70/night.
In brief — Family riad in Marrakech
Marrakech is an ideal destination for a family holiday: guaranteed sunshine, short flight (3 hours), a completely different experience and an affordable budget. The Riad Vendôme is particularly suitable for families: a child-safe pool, spacious rooms, a cook who prepares meals for all ages, and a safe neighbourhood in the medina. Whether you are a family of 4 or a family reunion of 30 guests, the riad adapts.
Family rates at Riad Vendôme are quoted per night for the family, not per person. Here are the three formulas, from the smallest to the whole riad. Full detail, seasons and the family room without meals are further down the page.

2 adults + 2 children. Moroccan breakfast, patio pool, private hammam, and the baby cot free for under-2s on direct booking. Dar El Bacha, pushchair-accessible from the car park 100 metres away.

Ask Éric — written quote in 24 hA family room without meals starts at €145 per night and the all-inclusive family package at €225. One contact throughout: Éric, owner since 2011.

(*) Prices per night for the whole family, direct booking. Babysitter 20 € per evening on request. Tourist tax not included: 3 € per person per night, payable on site.
A short city break of two or three nights. The Family Break — Essential is the one that works: breakfast is handled, the pool and the hammam are on site, and you keep your evenings free to eat out in the medina. With two children under 2, the cot costs nothing and the family room takes you all.
A full week with children. Take the Family Half Board. Coming back to the riad at 7pm with tired children and finding dinner ready is what makes the difference over seven days — Chef Naima adapts the spices, and the menus follow what the children actually eat. It is also the formula that removes the daily search for a restaurant that suits everyone.
Several families travelling together. The Family Reunion hires the riad exclusively from 8 guests and up to 45 with our second riad 100 metres away. Each family keeps its own room, the pool, the hammam and the rooftop are yours alone, and the budget splits between households — which is regularly cheaper than the same number of individual hotel rooms. See our exclusive hire page for the full detail.
Two periods have their own family formulas, priced for the whole stay rather than per night:
Autumn half-term. Half-board family stays are sold as complete packages: 760 € for 3 guests over 4 nights and 1 330 € over 7 nights, 940 € / 1 650 € for 4 guests, 1 100 € / 1 930 € for 5 guests. A version with an activity pack included (airport transfer, private Ourika valley day, 2 Spa packages for the parents, pool and jacuzzi for the children) runs from 1 010 €. Full grids on our autumn half-term page.
Christmas. Family stays run from 90 € per night for a family room with half board, from 20 to 28 December. Details on our Christmas in Marrakech page.
The Riad Vendôme offers everything a family needs. The pool is visible from the patio and terraces — you can keep an eye on children at all times. Rooms are spacious with extra bed options for children. The cook prepares adapted meals (not too spicy for little ones, varied options for teenagers). Fibre wifi lets teenagers stay connected. And the Dar El Bacha district is the medina's safest for walking with family.

Visit to the medina — Children love the colourful souks, the spices, the artisans. A bilingual guide is recommended for families.

Jardin Majorelle — The Majorelle blue fascinates children. A short (1:00) and pleasant visit.
Ride by horse-drawn carriage — Tour of the city by horse-drawn carriage. The children love it.
Valley of the Ourika — Waterfalls, river, lunch on the terrace. A 45-minute nature excursion.
Cooking class — The children take part in the preparation of couscous or Moroccan crêpes with the cook.
The Riad Vendôme is the ideal venue for bringing 3 generations together. Grandparents enjoy the quiet of the terraces and hammam. Parents relax by the pool and jacuzzi. Children play in the patio. In the evening, everyone gathers for a family dinner prepared by the cook. It's often the occasion to celebrate a birthday (60th, 70th, 80th) in an exceptional setting.

Rates for small family groups | Rates for large families
A family resort on the outskirts keeps you away from the real city; a family stay in a riad in the heart of the medina puts you right in it, safely. At Riad Vendôme your family settles into a genuine traditional house in the Dar El Bacha district, 7 minutes on foot from Jemaa El-Fna, with enclosed planted patios, a pool and a rooftop terrace where children can play away from traffic. Several rooms interconnect for families, Chef Naima adapts meals for younger guests, and Éric helps plan child-friendly outings. It is authentic Marrakech the whole family can enjoy, not an isolated holiday complex.
For a multi-generational roots trip, see our Jewish heritage riad page.
Most itineraries you will find online invent age limits for activities. We do not. Here is what we can state for the riad itself, and how we handle the rest.
| Under 2 years | Baby cot free of charge on direct booking. Bottle warming and fridge access in the kitchen on request. |
| Room capacity | Family rooms take 2 adults and up to 3 children. Connecting rooms available for larger families. |
| Pool | 5×3 m pool in the patio, visible from the breakfast tables and supervised at all times. No lifeguard: children remain under parental supervision. |
| Babysitting | €20 per evening, arranged with a member of our own staff, booked the day before. |
| Meals | Chef Naima cooks child portions with mild spices, and adapts to allergies you tell us about in advance. |
| Tourist tax | €3 per person per night, payable on site. |
| Activity age limits | Quad biking, camel rides, hot-air balloon and cooking classes each have their own minimum age set by the provider, and these change. We do not publish a number we cannot guarantee: send us your children's ages and we confirm in writing, before you pay anything, exactly which activities each child can join. |
Two practical points that most guides leave out. First, the heat: between 12:00 and 16:00 from May to September, the medina is hard going for a toddler. We build the mornings around one outing and keep the afternoon at the riad, by the pool, where it stays cooler under the patio. Second, pushchairs: the alleyways around Dar El Bacha are flat and wide enough for a pushchair, but the souks themselves are not — a baby carrier works better there. The riad is 7 minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna, so you come back for a nap and go out again without taking a taxi.
Tell us the ages of your children and we build the day-by-day around their naps, not around a brochure. Éric replies personally on WhatsApp +212 600 608 608, written quote within 24 hours.
With a child under three, plan one outing a day and keep the 12:00–16:00 nap window. Marrakech in the middle of the day is hot and loud, and a family that tries to fit two sights plus the souks into one day spends the evening managing a meltdown rather than eating dinner. The heated patio pool is what makes the difference: it is the reason the day works, not an extra. One contact throughout: Éric, owner since 2011 — WhatsApp +212 600 608 608, written quote within 24 hours.
| 08:30–09:30 | Moroccan breakfast on the rooftop or in the patio. Children eat early and then have the pool to themselves before the heat. |
| 10:00–12:00 | One outing, and one only. The Jardin Majorelle, the Bahia Palace or a slow walk to Jemaa el-Fna, 7 minutes away. Back before midday. |
| 12:00–16:00 | Lunch at the riad, then the nap window kept intact. This is the part families give up first and regret. Older children swim in the heated patio pool while the youngest sleeps. |
| 16:00–18:00 | Pool, or the second short outing if the children are older. The souks are calmer late afternoon than at midday. |
| 19:00–20:00 | Children's dinner by Chef Naima — plain chicken, pasta, chips and fruit if that is what works, said in advance and without judgement. |
| 20:30 | Parents' dinner in the patio once the children are down. On a request made when you book, Éric arranges a babysitter (€20 per evening). |
Riad Vendôme is very popular with families — calm atmosphere, pleasant patio, authentic spa and hammam. A great balance between comfort and price, away from the rush of palace-hotels. While parents enjoy hammam and massage treatments (reserved for adults), accompanied children have access to the heated patio pool and the rooftop jacuzzi under parental supervision. Eric adapts the timing around your family arrangements.
Yes. The pool is visible from the patio, the Dar El Bacha district is the safest in the medina, and the staff looks after the whole family's comfort.
Yes. Our cook adapts meals: dishes less spicy, pasta, grilled chicken, crepes. The breakfast includes options that children love.
Every family is different. Naima helps you choose the right activities based on your children's ages and energy levels:
The best day out for kids in Marrakech. 17 water slides, a wave pool, lazy river, dedicated toddler area. Entry approx €22 adults / €17 children. A full-day activity that tires them out perfectly. Riad Vendôme arranges transport.
One of Morocco's most spectacular natural sites. Huge waterfalls, wild Barbary macaques that eat from your hand, a swim in the natural pool at the base. Children aged 4+ absolutely love it. Riad Vendôme coordinates the full-day trip with an approved licensed transport partner.
Berber villages, a mountain river where children can paddle, local market. Calm, beautiful, very family-friendly. Perfect for a half-day with younger children.
A magical garden, easy to visit with a pushchair. The vivid cobalt blue, cactus, and pond fascinate children of all ages. Allow 1 hour.
Africa's highest ski resort. Skiing, sledging, donkeys in the snow — a surreal and unforgettable experience for children used to grey British winters. Riad Vendôme coordinates the day trip.
A night in a Berber tent under millions of stars. Camel trek at sunset. Comfortable bivouac, from age 3. The experience children remember for life. All-inclusive from Riad Vendôme.
Marrakech works brilliantly for UK school holiday timing. 300 days of sunshine a year, short flight (3h30 from London, 3h45 from Manchester), and no long-haul jet lag.
| UK School Holiday | Marrakech Weather | Our Pick |
|---|---|---|
| February Half Term | 18–22°C, sunny, no crowds | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect — best weather/price balance |
| Easter Holidays | 20–26°C, warm and sunny | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Peak season — book early |
| Summer Holidays | 32–42°C July/August | ⭐⭐⭐ Very hot — pool essential, plan early mornings |
| October Half Term | 22–28°C, warm and dry | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ideal — post-summer calm, excellent value |
| Christmas Holidays | 16–20°C, sunny while the UK is grey | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great escape — consider Oukaïmeden ski day |
Pro tip from Éric: February half term and October half term are our sweet spots — warm enough for the pool, cool enough to explore the medina comfortably, and generally better value than Easter peak.
Riad Vendôme is ideal for a family reunion with children — when 2, 3 or 4 families travel together and share the riad. Each family has its own room or suite, and you share the pool, rooftop, kitchen, and hammam. The budget splits beautifully.
Family reunion pricing (exclusive hire, per night):
Per person, shared between families, this is often cheaper than booking individual hotel rooms for everyone.
Yes. The riad has a private pool (not shared with other guests), making it safe for supervised children's swimming. All rooms have air conditioning. Eric can arrange a cot or extra bed. The medina is safe for walking with children and Jemaa El-Fna is an unforgettable experience for kids aged 5+.
Top family activities: Moroccan cooking class with Chef Naima (fun for children 8+, from €28/child), camel ride in the Palmeraie (30 min from the riad), Ourika Valley waterfalls day trip (suitable for children of all ages), and Marrakech souk tour with a guide (2h, from €13/person). Eric arranges everything.

Yes — Riad Vendôme is ideal for multi-generational families. We have ground-floor rooms (no stairs, suitable for grandparents), triple rooms (parents + young child), connecting doubles (extended family), and family-size suites. Eric coordinates everything: gentle activities for grandparents (heritage palace visit, hammam, easy walks), family activities (cooking class, pool day), children adventures (Agafay camel, sandcastle in desert sand). Calm atmosphere set back from the street, ideal for relaxing extended family time. From 380 EUR/family-of-6/night for full multi-room booking.
The most flexible multi-generational booking is to reserve 4-6 rooms together (depending on family size, 6-12 guests), grouped around the patio. Eric customises individual programmes: grandparents enjoy slow-paced activities (palace tours, hammam, rooftop relaxation), parents enjoy spa + cooking class, children enjoy pool + Agafay desert + family dinners. Single contract, multiple personalised paths. Modifications possible up to 7 days before. Family discounts negotiable for groups of 8+ direct booking via WhatsApp.
There are no non-stop flights from the United States; from New York allow about 8 to 9 hours via Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc, which hubs there. From Canada, Royal Air Maroc runs a seasonal non-stop from Montreal to Casablanca, then a short connection to Marrakech. The riad is about 20 minutes from Marrakech-Menara airport.
Riad Vendome is at 217 Derb El Halfaoui, in the Dar El Bacha district of the Marrakech medina. It is a 7-minute walk from Jemaa El-Fna square, close to the Koutoubia and the souks, so you reach the main sights on foot without needing a taxi. A member of staff meets you at the nearest vehicle drop-off point on arrival.
You book directly with the riad, not through a platform. Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp at +212 600 608 608 and you receive a written quote within 24 hours. There is no automated booking engine: every stay is confirmed by a person, and the payment terms are set out in the quote you receive.
Yes, Riad Vendome can be hired exclusively. The main riad has 12 rooms and goes up to 20 rooms with our second riad 100 metres away, for exclusive hire of up to 45 guests. During an exclusive hire there are no other guests: the pool, hammam, jacuzzi and rooftop are reserved for your group alone.
Family formulas are priced per night for the whole family, not per person. The Family Break Essential starts at 260 euros a night for 2 adults and 2 children with Moroccan breakfast, pool, private hammam and a free baby cot. The Family Half Board starts at 295 euros a night for 2 adults and 3 children, with breakfasts, plus the evening dinner by Chef Naima. Yes. The Family Reunion formula hires the riad exclusively from 8 guests, and up to 45 guests with our second riad 100 metres away. Each family keeps its own room, the pool, hammam and rooftop are reserved for your group alone, and the budget splits between households. It starts at 520 euros a night.
Yes, and they are priced for the whole stay rather than per night. For the autumn half-term, a half-board family stay is 760 euros for 3 guests over 4 nights and 1 330 euros over 7 nights, 940 or 1 650 euros for 4 guests, 1 100 or 1 930 euros for 5 guests. At Christmas, family stays start at 90 euros a night from 20 to 28 December.
Quad biking, camel rides, hot-air balloon and cooking classes each have their own minimum age set by the provider, and these change. We do not publish a number we cannot guarantee: send us your children's ages and we confirm in writing, before you pay anything, exactly which activities each child can join.
Yes. The baby cot is free of charge on direct booking, and bottle warming and fridge access in the kitchen are available on request. Yes. Éric, the owner since 2011, is your single contact from the first message to your departure. One WhatsApp number, +212 600 608 608, covers the rooms, the hammam and massage slots, the cooking class with Chef Naima, the airport transfer and the excursions, and you receive a written quote within 24 hours. There is no call centre, no platform in the middle and no reservations department to chase. Transfers and outside activities are coordinated with an approved licensed transport partner, and Éric lines up the timings so the days fit together.
Yes. There is free parking 100 metres from the riad, and car access is via Bab Doukkala or Bab El Khemis. The last 100 metres are on foot because the alleys of the old medina are pedestrian; Éric or a member of staff comes to meet you at the car park and carries the luggage. Tell us your arrival time on WhatsApp +212 600 608 608 so someone is waiting rather than you calling from the car.
Marrakech-Menara is about 20 minutes away. The riad arranges a private transfer with an approved licensed transport partner: €15 by day and €17 at night for 2 guests. The driver waits with a sign and drops you at the car park 100 metres from the door, since the medina alleys are pedestrian, and we meet you there. On a direct booking of 3 nights or more the return transfer is complimentary. Send your flight number to Éric on WhatsApp +212 600 608 608.
Yes. Chef Naima adapts the menus and the cooking class to vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergy requirements. The kitchen is halal by default. What we need is the list of constraints in writing when you book, not on the day, because the shopping is done at the market that morning. For a desert night, Éric passes the same list to the camp 48 hours ahead so the meals are adapted there too. Send the details on WhatsApp +212 600 608 608 and they are written into your quote.
Partly, and we prefer to say exactly where the limits are. The Zagora junior suite is on the ground floor, 18 m², with step-free access, an accessible bathroom and its own private patio; the pool, the patio and the ground-floor common areas are on the same level. The rooftop terrace and the first-floor rooms are reached by stairs, and there is no lift. Access from the airport is by private transfer to the car park 100 metres away, then a paved pedestrian alley. Describe the situation to Éric on WhatsApp +212 600 608 608 and he will tell you in writing what works and what does not, before you pay anything.
