Which Family Formula Fits Your Stay?
A short city break of two or three nights. The Family Break - Essential is the one that works: breakfast is handled, the pool and the hammam are on site, and you keep your evenings free to eat out in the medina. With two children under 2, the cot costs nothing and the family room takes you all.
A full week with children. Take the Family Half Board. Two periods have their own family formulas, priced for the whole stay rather than per night:
Autumn half-term. Half-board family stays are sold as complete packages: 760 € for 3 guests over 4 nights and 1 330 € over 7 nights, 940 € / 1 650 € for 4 guests, 1 100 € / 1 930 € for 5 guests. Pacing a day in the medina with small children
Two practical points that most guides leave out. First, the heat: between 12:00 and 16:00 from May to September, the medina is hard going for a toddler. We build the mornings around one outing and keep the afternoon at the riad, by the pool, where it stays cooler under the patio. Second, pushchairs: the alleyways around Dar El Bacha are flat and wide enough for a pushchair, but the souks themselves are not, a baby carrier works better there. The riad is 7 minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna, so you come back for a nap and go out again without taking a taxi.

With a child under three, plan one outing a day and keep the 12:00-16:00 nap window. Marrakech in the middle of the day is hot and loud, and a family that tries to fit two sights plus the souks into one day spends the evening managing a meltdown rather than eating dinner. Three things we would rather tell you before you book
- A pushchair is awkward in the medina. The alleys are uneven, often narrow, and shared with mopeds and handcarts. Most parents end up carrying the youngest in a sling. Bring one.
- The souks are intense for a toddler: noise, smells, crowding, no room to walk freely. They work far better late afternoon, and in short doses, than at midday.
- Minimum ages for quad biking, camel rides, hot-air balloon and cooking classes are set by each provider and they change. We do not publish a number we cannot guarantee: send us your children's ages and we confirm in writing, before you pay anything, exactly which activities each child can join.
Spa & Hammam - Family-Friendly Setting
Riad Vendôme is very popular with families: calm atmosphere, pleasant patio, authentic spa and hammam. A great balance between comfort and price, away from the rush of palace-hotels. Are the two adjoining rooms linked by an interior door?
No. They are the Suite Junior Merzouga and the Suite Junior Zagora, two independent rooms side by side on the ground floor, each with its own bathroom, opening onto the same private patio reserved for you alone. It is the patio that links them, not a door.
How many people can the two adjoining rooms take?
Five. The Suite Junior Merzouga has a double bed for two guests and the Suite Junior Zagora has three single beds for three guests. The private patio between them serves only these two rooms.
Which rooms have a mezzanine?
Three family suites: Ourika at 20 m² for 4 guests, Oukaïmeden at 22 m² for 4 guests and Tanger at 22 m² for 5 guests. Each has two levels, with sleeping space on both. Simmons VIP bedding throughout.
