Riad charming vs Resort golf : why choose the medina

The riad experience changes everything. Marrakech golf resorts (Palmeraie, Amelkis, etc.) offer direct course access but a standardised hotel experience. At Riad Vendôme, you live the Moroccan way: breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the medina rooftops, hammam with black soap in our private spa, dinner by Chef Naima, night in a room with zelliges and carved plaster. Transfers to the courses (15-30 min) are included in our packages.

Marrakech Golf Trip Groups: 4, 6, 8 or 10 People — Stay & Play Packages

Riad Vendôme & Spa is ideal for organising a golf trip in groups of 4 to 10 people (up to 24 with full privatisation). With its 12 rooms, the riad perfectly accommodates groups of 8 people (4 doubles) or 10 people (5 doubles) — the most requested format for international golf trips. Golf bags + medina = easy taxi access at 100 metres. For a golf holiday in a riad, make sure to choose a property located near a medina gate (such as Bab Doukkala or Bab Laksour). This allows your driver to pick you up easily with your golf bags without you having to walk through the narrow alleys. Tee Time Reservation — We Secure the Best Slots

Reserving the ideal tee time at Marrakech's top courses is not straightforward. In high season (October–April), prime morning slots at Royal Golf, Amelkis and Samanah fill up 4 to 6 weeks in advance — and the clubs prioritise their regular partners and hotel concierges over independent enquiries from abroad.

This is where 13 years of local relationships make the difference. Éric has been organising golf stays from Riad Vendôme since 2013. The clubs know him personally. When you book your golf holiday with us, we call the courses directly on your behalf and secure tee times that match your preferred schedule — typically 8:30am to 11am starts, which is when the light is beautiful, the temperature is perfect, and the pace of play is smooth.

If you try to book tee times yourself from abroad, you will likely find that online forms return "no availability" for the popular morning slots, or that you only receive confirmation for off-peak afternoon times (14h–16h) when the sun is harshest and the course is crowded with lesson groups. Some courses don't even accept online bookings from non-members — they require a local partner or hotel to reserve on your behalf.

Accommodation : room double at Riad Vendôme with breakfast Moroccan complete. Wi-Fi, weatherisation, pool included, jacuzzi optional: €13/2 guests or €17/4 guests per hour for riad guests; €25/person (€44/2 guests/h) for external visitors.

Green fees : Reservation and payment of green fees at your chosen course. Caddy included (1 per 2 players).

Transfers : vehicle private return riad → golf, every day de game. Driver ponctuel, vehicle air-conditioned.

Spa (packages incluant the spa) : hammam oriental with black soap scrub + 1hr relaxing massage with argan oil per person.

Excursions (packages including an excursion): day trip to the Ourika Valley, Essaouira or Agafay desert, your choice.

7:30 — Breakfast on the rooftop. Msemen, baghrir, freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, cafe. Vue panoramic over the medina rooftops and the Atlas Mountains.

8:30 — Your driver awaits at the riad. Off to today's course (15-30 min depending on the course).

9:00-13:30 — 18 holes with caddy. Pause lunch au Club House or return to the riad.

14:30 — Return to the riad. Repos, pool/jacuzzi, lecture in the patio.

16:00 — Hammam and massage at the spa of the riad. 1hr30 de relaxation absolue.

19:00 — Dinner at the riad (tagine prepared by our chef) or evening out in the medina.

21:00 — Mint tea on the rooftop under the stars.

Excursions from Marrakech

Your non-golf days can be spent exploring the region:

Valley of the Ourika — 1h from Marrakech. Waterfalls, Berber villages, botanical gardens. Ideal for a half day.

Essaouira — 2:30 of Marrakech. Port de fishing, medina UNESCO, plages. Day complete.

Desert Agafay — 45 min from Marrakech. Dinner under the stars, camel ride. A memorable evening.

Oukaimeden — 1h30 from Marrakech. Ski station in winter, hiking in summer. Spectacular Atlas views.

Marrakech Golf — Best Season & What to Expect

Best months for golf in Marrakech: October-November and February-March. Temperatures are ideal at 18-25°C, low humidity, and the courses are in perfect condition. July-August (40°C+) is not recommended for golf. December-January works well if you don't mind cool mornings.

Who can play? All levels welcome — Marrakech courses cater for beginners (the Palmeraie Golf Club has an easy layout) through to low-handicap players (Amelkis is a full championship course at 7,000 yards, designed to challenge single-figure handicaps). Eric arranges tee times at the right course for your group's level.

Marrakech vs Algarve / Costa del Sol: Green fees in Marrakech (€90-120) are 30-50% cheaper than equivalent championship courses in Portugal or Spain (€80-150). Flights from the UK are comparable (3.5h). The combination of golf, riad comfort, and Moroccan cuisine makes Marrakech increasingly popular as a golf break destination.
