Royal Golf Marrakech — The Historic Course (est. 1927)

The oldest course in Morocco, founded in 1927 by the Pasha El Glaoui. This courses mythique de 27 holes (three 9-hole loops), by 72, is located in the heart of central Marrakech, just 10 minutes from the riad. Lined with palm treess, of eucalyptus and of olive trees centenaires, the Royal Golf offers cadre majestueux where the silence is only trouble by the chant of the oiseaux. Amelkis Golf — The Most Popular Course for Golf Holidays

27 holes, by 72, designed by Cabell Robinson, to 15 minutes of the riad. Amelkis is the most popular course in Marrakech for golf and spa holidays in Marrakech. Its natural terrain is mainly hilly and offers spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains. The course is technique but playable for all levels. The clubhouse is one of the most stunning of Marrakech. Palmeraie Golf Palace — Robert Trent Jones Design

27 holes, by 72, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the heart of the Palmeraie. The course winds through 6,200 palm trees on flat but strategic course. The bunkers are vast and the greens fast. It's the courses the most accessible in Marrakech for intermediate-level golfers. 20 minutes from the riad. Green fee: €90–€120 (low to high season).

Samanah Golf — Jack Nicklaus Masterpiece

18 holes, by 72, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Samanah is widely considered the most beautiful course in Morocco. Located on the Amizmiz road, 25 minutes from the riad, it offers breathtaking views of the High Atlas. The design is demanding with significant elevation changes and complex greens. Fairmont Royal Palm — The Prestige Course

18 holes, by 72, designed by Cabell Robinson on the grounds of the Fairmont Royal Palm Resort. A course in a sumptuous setting with permanent views of the Atlas Mountains. The fairways are wide and the course is very well maintained. The clubhouse offers a gourmet restaurant. 15 minutes from the riad. Green fee: from €120 (high season).

Al Maaden Golf — Best Value Green Fees in Marrakech

18 holes, by 72, designed by Kyle Phillips. Al Maaden is our recommendation for golfers seeking a quality course at a reasonable price. Montgomerie Marrakech — Colin Montgomerie Design

Assoufid the club — Spectacular Atlas Mountain Views

18 holes, by 72, designed by Niall Cameron. Assoufid is a spectacular course carved into the natural course at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The design is boldux with fairways that epousent the contours of the landscape. It is a demanding course that rewards strategic play. To 25 minutes of the riad. In high season, prime morning slots at Royal Golf, Amelkis and Samanah are reserved 4–6 weeks ahead, and most top courses prioritise local partners over foreign online enquiries. Independent golfers frequently end up with afternoon slots (14h–16h) when the heat is strongest and the pace of play slow.

Playing Conditions in Marrakech — What to Expect on the Course

Marrakech's courses are maintained to a high standard year-round, with the peak playing season running October to April. During these months, temperatures at ground level stay between 15°C and 28°C — ideal conditions that explain why the city has attracted serious players from the European tour circuit for decades. The Moroccan Golf Federation runs several professional events here annually, including the Hassan II Trophy, which has attracted players of the calibre of Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo and Ernie Els.

Fairways here are typically Bermuda grass (resilient to heat), greens are often bent grass or tifdwarf (faster than many European players expect), and the mountain air at Marrakech's 480m elevation adds a modest carry distance advantage compared to sea-level courses. Handicap certificates are required at most facilities — bring yours. Buggy hire is available at all major clubs and is strongly recommended for the full 18.
