At Riad Vendôme, Our chef welcomes you for a hands-on cooking experience: visit the local souk for fresh ingredients, prepare traditional tagines and couscous, then enjoy your creations on the rooftop terrace with Atlas mountain views. This is not a cooking demonstration — it's a hands-on experience. At Riad Vendôme, you don't watch from behind a counter. You stand at your own workstation, sleeves rolled up, apron on, with our chef guiding every step. You'll learn to identify spices by smell, prepare a traditional tagine from scratch, and roll couscous by hand — just like Moroccan grandmothers have done for generations.
The full experience includes: a guided visit to the local souk (200 meters from the riad), where you'll learn to select spices, vegetables and meat like a local; 2 hours of hands-on cooking in the riad's authentic kitchen; and a leisurely rooftop lunch where you enjoy everything you've prepared, with panoramic views of the medina and the Atlas mountains.

Authentic location. Riad Vendôme is in the Dar El Bacha quarter — the most prestigious residential area of the medina, far from the tourist circuits of Jemaa El-Fna. The local market where you'll shop is used by actual Marrakech residents, not tour groups.
Real Chef, real recipes. Our chef has been cooking at the riad for over 15 years. She learned from her mother and grandmother — no fusion cuisine, no Instagram plating. Just traditional Moroccan food as it's been made for generations.
French owner on site. Eric, the French owner of Riad Vendôme since 2007, is your single point of contact. He speaks fluent English and French, responds within 3 hours, and ensures everything runs smoothly.

Schedule: Classes start at 10am (lunch formula) or 4pm (dinner formula). Total duration: 3 to 3.5 hours including market visit.
Languages: Classes are led by our chef in French. Eric provides English translation throughout the class.

Ici, pas de salle de cours impersonnelle ni de cuisine d'hotel standardised — you cook in the vraie cuisine of the riad, donnant sur a patio with fountain, zelliges traditional and plantes luxuriantes.

Absolutely. Our chef adapts every step to your level. No cooking experience is required. She guides your hands, explains every spice, and lets you progress at your own pace. The chicken tagine and kefta tagine are perfect for complete beginners.
Yes, children aged 8 and over are welcome. They love rolling couscous, shaping briouates, and discovering exotic spices. It's a wonderful family activity.
