Riad Vendôme is a Jewish observant friendly riad in the Dar El Bacha medina of Marrakech, about 10 minutes’ walk from the Mellah. Kosher meals on request by an external certified kosher caterer (the riad kitchen is not kosher), Shabbat facilitation, and full privatisation for family groups up to 45. Privatisation from €950/night (low season).

Searching for a kosher friendly riad in Marrakech or a shabbat friendly hotel usually ends in vague promises. We prefer precision. Kosher meals are available on request, prepared and delivered by an external certified kosher caterer and served at the riad — the riad kitchen itself is not kosher, and strictly observant guests are served exclusively by the caterer. Certified kosher restaurants also operate in the city, such as Dar Ima in Guéliz, a short taxi ride away, and a Chabad house is active in Marrakech. For simpler days, breakfast can be kept plain: fruit, hard-boiled eggs, sealed products.
The location does the rest: from the front door, the Mellah, the Slat Al Azama synagogue — home to a living community with Torah readings on Mondays, Thursdays and Shabbat — and the Miaara cemetery are about a 10-minute walk. Everything an observant traveller needs stays within walking distance.
We plan the day around candle-lighting: an early dinner served before sunset, candles provided, a quiet patio where the evening slows down, and lower-floor rooms on request so nobody depends on stairs or equipment. On Saturday, the medina is at your feet — synagogue, Mellah, a walk through Dar El Bacha — and the riad stays calm, private and yours. Tell us your customs when you book; the house adapts to the family, not the other way round.

This is the format observant families ask for most: the entire riad privatised — 12 rooms for 33–36 guests, up to 45 with the partner riad 100 m away, both under one management. Grandparents, parents and children under one roof, one patio, one table; a roots trip where the accommodation is part of the journey, not just a bed. Privatisation starts from €950/night in low season.

Between visits, the riad is a place to rest: traditional hammam, massages, a pool in the patio and a 300 m² rooftop terrace facing the Atlas. Chef Naima cooks Judeo-Moroccan flavours — a culinary heritage of old Marrakech — for guests who are not strictly kosher; her kitchen is not kosher, and the certified external caterer takes over whenever kashrut is required. Both can serve the same table, clearly separated, so mixed-observance families eat together.

Dar El Bacha is one of the calmest and safest quarters of the medina, walkable day and evening, 7 minutes from Jemaa El-Fna. Marrakech carries over 2,000 years of Jewish history — for the full story of the Mellah, the synagogue and the holidays, and for celebrations and itineraries, see our Jewish heritage in Marrakech, Bar Mitzvah in Marrakech and Jewish Morocco tour pages.
No — and we say so plainly. We are not a kosher hotel and the riad kitchen is not kosher. All kosher food comes exclusively from an external certified kosher caterer, ordered in advance and served at the riad. That honesty is exactly why observant families trust the arrangement: no blurred lines, no over-promise.

About a 10-minute walk. The riad is in the Dar El Bacha medina, roughly 10 minutes on foot from the Mellah, the Slat Al Azama synagogue and the Miaara cemetery.
